Re: b2 howto install dhcpcd5?

I assume your B2 is running the unmodified Excito software and underlying Debian squeeze, right? The main problem is support for Debian squeeze ended this year. You can try to user the "-t wheezy" option to specifically search the wheezy repo and "-s" to only simulate the process. Dhcpcd5 might depe...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

Okay, more testing revealed some insights into a possible problem with the B3-Debian jessie-1.0 image. Setup: One Disk with B3-Debain-jessie-1.0, but two B3 boards (called alpha and beta) with the same U-Boot Problem: If you swap the Board, but keep the same OS installed on disk, the ethernet ports ...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

e: I'll keep the stuff below for posterity, but the problem was solved by FIRST flashing the new U-Boot ("Rodeus" Version from Mouette's Github), then running the jessie-1.0 installer afterwards instead of the other way around. Original problem: So, I have 3 B3s now and something weird is going on. ...

I was already accepting that my B3s might be obsolete soon and not receive any updates.
Is there a way we could reward you for your work?

Re: Forum upgrade

good job keeping this forum alive.
Is there a way to enable HTTPS for it too? Obtaining a cert shouldn't be an issue with letsencrypt, but I guess it depends whether the hoster allows you to enable that yourself or forces you to buy an upgrade.

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

If you have the option to connect the drive to another computer and some knowledge on how a linux system works, I recommend partitioning it manually. You can create the partitions on the other PC and then simply extract the archive onto the first partition of the disk (mountpoint "/"). My disk is pa...

Re: VPN tunnel for Android/IOS on B3?

Are you using your B3 as the main router for the network you want to connect to?
If not you should check that device first whether it already supports VPN connections.

Re: samba security/size - debian jessie 1.0

I am aware that /home is now on the root partition which is possibly quite small. But since the B3 is a headless device, I figured that each user's home-directory will hardly ever be used for storage. You can set a different path for samba's [homes]-share so that it too can be stored at /srv/samba/h...

Re: samba security/size - debian jessie 1.0

NAS Server? Do you mean Samba? I have a somewhat public share, that can be accessed by anyone who has a (Linux-)user-account and password on my device AND is a member of the sambashare group (valid users @sambashare). The share's folder itself is owned by the sambashare group and I also set the forc...

Re: owncloud 9 on B3

I recommend using the Owncloud repositories (ahoff's link) to install it instead of the Debian one's, because they are severily outdated (7.x vs current stable 9.x). The Documentation on their website and especially the Administration manual is also advisable. If you are planning on letting more tha...

Re: Excito B3 Filestructure (pictures, videos, music)

uh.. does the default excito image not use LVM for the data-partition and therefore you have to use lvm2 to mount it and not mdadm? If you managed to acquire a live-linux-system (Ubuntu preferrably), I would recommend you check whether it recognizes an lvm-partition. This "installs" the lvm2-drivers...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

I am more worried about my B3 being lifted and its encryption broken due to it being a 128Bit cipher since that is the maximum the hardware-accelerator is able to perform. But regarding my dump-tarball-installation: I currently have issues due to permissions not being set correctly. Does your origin...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

EDIT: Important: If you decide to install by dumping the files on the disk and do not use the install-script, remember to generate SSH-Host-Keys and place them on the disk aswell. This is something the script usually does so there are none present if you just extract the files. I just wasted 2 hours...

Re: My B3 NAS will not boot

Okay, your B3 does not boot anymore and is stuck at purple-light. Can you remove the harddisk from the B3 and mount it on another system to inspect the status of the partition-table, filesystems and data itself? Alternatively you can try to boot a Rescue-USB-System and then inspect the disk this way...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

Does the unzip-tarball-to-partition-Method of installation still work? I prefer to setup the disk with gparted on another system and then simply dump the image-files on it. Since you mentioned there were no changes done to the U-Boot, I figure the B3 still requires an ext2-filesystem with the kernel...
